The Friends of Wells Cathedral was founded in 1933 and there are now Friends across the globe. The Friends support the Chapter of Wells in the of maintenance of the fabric, life and work of the Cathedral. The Friends have contributed to projects big and small, relating to the building and to departments within the Cathedral Foundation. The Friends committed themselves to funding the £1.8m for the Friends Building in the Cathedral Development Project.

The Friends assist the Chapter of the Cathedral costs of major restoration works, the continuing traditions of music, and inspiring younger generations through the Cathedral’s unique heritage and history.

Please note that while the Friends Office is currently closed as part of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) precautions phone call and emails will still be answered and post will be dealt with though this may take longer than normal.

 Wells Cathedral has be open between 10:00am and 4:00pm (11:00 to 4:00pm Sundays) from Monday 15th June for private prayer and reflection.

New arrangements are in place, please click here to find out more.

From Saturday 4th July, public worship will resume.  Services on Sunday 5th July are 8:30am BCP Holy Communion, 10:30 Eucharist and 5:15pm Evening Prayer.  Social distancing will be observed and other special arrangements will be in place.
