Friends of Wells Cathedral
New disabled access from the East Cloister to the Camery Garden.The new doors were made by the Clerk of Works, Mr Michael Haycraft, and funded by the Friends from a donation towards improving access for wheelchair users.

Friends' Projects

•    restoration of the Chapter House and redecoration of the stairs
•    the refurbishment of the organ and provision of a new case
•    the recasting of some of the bells
•    repair and reglazing of the cloisters
•    repairs to the pinnacles of the Chapter House
•    financing the figure of the Risen Christ and other West Front sculptures
•    publication of guides to parts of the Cathedral
•    major funding towards the provision of lighting in the Nave
•    the cleaning of the stonework on the Chain Gate
•   
financial support for the choristers, in particular the girls’ choir
•    
funding of £1.83M for the Friends Building, part of the Cathedral Development Project
•    works in respect of improved access to the Camery Garden form the East Cloister
•    replacement of West Porch doors (anticpated in 2011)


The Friends are currently supporting initial works in respect of the conservation of the 14th century Jesse Window as well as a number of smaller projects in the Cathedral.
